Leah Cameron is a Toronto-based filmmaker with 20 years of experience creating stories for digital, film and TV. Her digital comedy THE COMMUNIST’S DAUGHTER (CBC Gem) won the Web Series World Cup in 2022 and was nominated for six Canadian Screen Awards.
Leah is a firm believer that we all have compelling stories to tell if we look closely at our own lives. TCD is loosely based on the intense Leftist phase her father went through at the height of the Reagan 80s, his desire to make the world a more just place, his many election runs and how heart-warming it was. The show earned praise from the Globe and Mail’s John Doyle who called it a “labour of love.”
An actor’s director, Leah is a huge believer in collaboration, providing her vision, then trusting creatives to bring their best to the table. Leah is a graduate of the American Film Institute’s MFA Conservatory in Los Angeles and The Second City Hollywood.
Her upcoming short film, The Misdiagnosis of Deborah Krill, which she co-wrote, co-directed and co-produced with her friend Lilly Urban is an absurdist comedy about doctors not believing women.
